Culture Blog: Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen

Romans 8:24 “For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees?”

(Just a warning there are some small movie spoilers in this blog) I have seen the new Transformers twice now, and there is one line that sticks out to me. “I believe it will work.” It sticks out as a line of hope. Hope is something that our faith needs. The entire last hour or so of the movie is based on the hope and faith of Sam Whitwicky that an object has the power to bring Optimus Prime back to life. Without this faith Sam would have given up. Our faith gives us hope, and our hope I believe feeds our faith. Faith is believing in something unseen, and according to the verse above hope in what is seen is not hope, nor is it faith for that matter, hope is in the unseen, our hope is in our Lord Jesus Christ!

How do you approach the idea of hope and faith?
