So I was reading in my NT text-book today about the letters to the Corinthians. One of the reasons that Paul wrote the letter was to promote unity in the Corinthian Church. The dynamic of Corinth made division due to class and prominence very easy. So Paul had to instruct the church of Corinth to give honor to the lesser in order to create unity. The over all application though is unity of the body of Christ. The situation is unique to that place and time (in a manner of speaking). We still deal with this issue today. It’s nice to know that unity in the body, or lack thereof has been an issue since the beginning. However, I wonder if churches just skip over these parts of Corinthians or the entire books when dealing with unity issues.
Just an observation and annoyance I suppose.
